Covered Wagons

High-capacity freight cars, particularly sliding-wall freight cars, are an important component of VTG Group’s vehicle fleet.

On these rail freight cars, the entire side wall and in some cases also the roof can be moved to the side so that the cargo can be lifted by forklift or crane out of the wagon. These sliding-wall wagons, in contrast to traditional freight wagons,have a higher loading volume, better stowage positions, higher loading capacities, enhanced capacity utilization and advanced sliding and transport protection fittings. They are used to carry, in particular, car parts and paper products and, to a lesser extent, electronic or industrial steel products.

VTG Group markets these sliding-wall freight cars via the pool systems of TRANSWAGGON Group, in which VTG has a 50% stake.
